Challenges Overcome:

The company had two distinct businesses with different types of retail customers, different types of customers and different economics. The electric bicycle business was small and not growing while the electric scooter business was extremely competitive. Thus, most buyers wanted to buy one or the other business, but not both.

In early 2012, GCA Partner Kevin W. Shultz led the successful sale of the company in its entirety to Accell Group, N.V., one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of both traditional and electric bicycles.
