Michael W. Ernestus
Mr. Ernestus has a particular focus on turn-around and transatlantic cross-border transactions. Before joining G.C. Andersen Partners in 2010, Mr. Ernestus was a Managing Partner at Artus Advisors, a New York based financial advisory firm focused on capital raises for middle market, start-ups and second stage investments, as well as LBO transactions. During that time he also served as President and Executive Director of the Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation “Columbus Acquisition Corp”. (AMEX: BUS). Prior to that he served as Managing Member at Recovery Asset Management, a US based advisory firm to hedge funds, as well as to a Luxemburg based publicly traded fund. Mr. Ernestus was the Head of Investment Banking and Origination & Syndication of Swiss Bank's German operation, SBC-Warburg (Deutschland) AG , and a Managing Director of SBC-Warburg's London operation from 1993 to 1996. Prior to that he was a Director of Investment Banking of Salomon Brothers AG in Frankfurt, Germany; Vice President of Bankers Trust in New York, first in their Corporate Finance, Foreign Direct Investment Group and later in their Merchant Banking Origination Group and a Vice President, Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank AG's New York office. Before that he briefly worked as a lawyer in Frankfurt, Germany.
Mr. Ernestus serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Demag Cranes AG. He has previously served on numerous boards of financial firms, funds and corporations in the US, the UK, Germany and Luxembourg.
Mr. Ernestus received a Graduate Degree in Law and a “Doctor of Law” (PhD equivalent) from Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt, Germany and an LL.M. from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law, as well as an M.B.A. from New York University, Stern School of Business.
